Two letter words formation and examples of how we use them in simple sentences. Ìṣẹ̀dá àwọn ọ̀rọ̀ oní lẹ́tà méjì àti àpẹrẹ bí a ṣe ń lò wọ́n ní inú àwọn gbólóhùn kéékèèké.

Note:

It is a good step to always identify tone marks before you spell words in yoruba language.

The reason is because it is difficult to spell Yorùbá words with the tone marks on individual letters.

 Kíyèsí: 

Ìgbésẹ̀ tí ó dára ni láti má a kọ́kọ́ ṣe ìdámọ̀ àwọn àmì ohùn kí a tó má a pe àwọn lẹ́tà inú ọ̀rọ̀ jáde ní ẹnu. 

Ìdí ni wípé kò rọrùn láti má a pe àwọn lẹ́tà tí ó wà ní inú ọ̀rọ̀ jáde láti ẹnu ní ìkànkan pẹ̀lú àmì ohùn orí wọn.  

d  é  =  dé (to wear a cap)        I wear a cap. d  é  =  dé         Mo fìlà.
f   ò  =  fò (to jump)                 I jump up. f   ò  =  fò         Mo sókè.
f   ọ́  =  fọ́ (to break)                Break a plate. f   ọ́  =  fọ́         Fọ́ abọ́.
gb  e  =  gbe (to lift)                I can lift it. gb  e  =  gbe     Mo lè gbe.
j  ó  =  jó (to dance)                I can dance. j  ó  =  jó           Mo lè .
j  ù  =  jù (than)           I am bigger than you. j  ù  =  jù           Mo tóbi ẹ́ lọ.
k  í   =  kí (to greet)           Greet the teacher. k  í   =  kí          olùkọ́.
k  ọ  =  kọ́ (to learn)         Learn a language. k  ọ́  =  kọ́         Kọ́ èdè.
p  ẹ́  =  pẹ́  (to be late)             I am late. p  ẹ́  =  pẹ́         Mo ti pẹ́.
p  ọ̀  =  pọ̀ (to be plenty)         This is plenty. p  ọ̀  =  pọ̀         Eléyìí pọ̀.
r  í  =  rí (to see)                      I see you. r  í  =  rí            Mo ìrẹ.
r  o  =  ro (to cut grass)            Cut the grass. r  ó  =  ró          Ro oko.
s  í  = sí (to)             I am going to the house. s  í  = sí             Mò ń lọ ilé.
s  ọ  =  sọ (tell)                        I will tell. s  ọ  =  sọ          Mà á sọ.
ṣ  e  =  ṣe (do/make)               I will do good. ṣ  e  =  ṣe          Mà á ṣe rere.
ṣ  ẹ̀  =  ṣẹ̀ (to offend)        Do not offend me. ṣ  ẹ̀  =  ṣẹ̀          Má ṣẹ̀ mi.
ṣ  í  =  ṣí (open)                    Open that door. ṣ  í  =  ṣí            Ṣí ilẹ̀kùn yẹn. 
t  ọ̀  =  tọ̀ (to pee)                    I want to pee. t  ọ̀  =  tọ̀           Mo fẹ́ tọ̀.
t  u  =  tu (to untie)                Untie that rope. t  ú  =  tú           okùn yẹn.
w ẹ̀  =  wẹ̀ (take a bath)       Go take a bath. w ẹ̀  =  wẹ̀        Lọ wẹ̀.

Note:

All Yorùbá words are pronounced exactly as the combined letters appear.

It is important to show tone marks on any letter that deserves one.

Bí àpapọ̀ àwọn létà inú ọ̀rọ̀ bá ṣe fi ara hàn ni a ṣe máa ń pè wọ́n. 

Ó ṣe pàtàkì láti má a fi àwọn àmì ohùn hàn ní orí lẹ́tà tí ó bá yẹ.
